The International Social Service West Africa (SSI-WA) and the Direction de la Coopération Internationale de Monaco (DCI) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Dakar, marking the launch of the second phase of the INISA – Initiatives Sahel programme.
Welcome to the Annual Meeting of the West Africa Network for Child Protection (WANCP), a regional cooperation mechanism dedicated to the transnational protection and reintegration of vulnerable migrant children and youth.
Regional Cooperation for Child Protection
WANCP represents a unique alliance, with each ECOWAS member state being represented by its national coordinations, consisting of civil society organizations and state services. The ultimate goal of WANCP is to make the West African space safe for mobile children and youth.
As a symbol, this year 2018 ended with the adoption of the Global Compact on Migration, and as a place of adoption the African continent and precisely Marrakech. It must be said that Africa has been very present in the collective imagination of the thousands of actors who came to celebrate the new good word on migrants. Moreover, our continent was the silent godfather of this important moment in human history. Crystallizing all the fears and all the challenges that would push us today to the absolute necessity of a better "migration management".
They are said to be stronger than the average child, because of their resilience and the immunity that comes from living on the streets and in precarious conditions.
The RAO is a transnational mechanism for the referral, care and protection of children in mobility and in difficulty in West Africa. It is a network of state and non-state professionals who communicate, collaborate and use the same tool for the care of these children and young people. This common care tool, composed of eight steps of operational procedures and standards is the ECOWAS Manual for the Protection and Reintegration of Vulnerable Children and Young Migrants.
